Fitting Out Supper
Wednesday 9th April is the club's annual fitting out supper.
Based on the success of the last social event, the dinner dance, it should be a great and lively occasion. Accompanying the supper is a nautically based quiz..... but don't for a minute think the answers will all be 'plain sailing', our resident quiz master has a few testing surprises in-store!
If you are planning on coming along please book using the link below, teams will be sorted on the night!

Prize Giving
Awards for the Frostbite series 2008, as well as the much sought after Combined PM Series and the Fleet Champions for 2007, will be awarded at lunchtime this coming Sunday:- 30th March.
As well as the normal winners and runners up in the fleets, the Fleet Captains have been given the opportunity to award one extra prize per fleet. For example, in the Fast Asymmetric Fleet, we have had the following nominations for the special prize:
- For having the cheek to beat the Fleet Captain (both in the series, and by just 2 feet when he was sailing his new Laser 2000): Richard and Sue Morley.
- For entertainment value: Capsizes we have seen brings a second nomination for Richard and Sue Morley in the RS500, for Arthur and Eddie Romano in the 29er and for Andy Maw with his video camera in the Laser Vortex.
- For regularly sailing the slowest boat in the fleet, beating people on handicap and thus encouraging more onto the water: Ken and Annie Millington in the RS-Vision.
- For turning out in more races than any others: Steve Middleton and Chris Rowlands.
Optimist Easter Regattas
Several of the Burghfield Junior optimist sailors left their Easter Eggs at home this weekend to travel to one of the International Easter Regattas taking place at Braassemermeer, The Netherlands, and Lake Garda, Italy.
There were tough conditions to contend with at both venue. So well done to them all!

Photography Competition
The committee is wanting to place some framed images of sailing around the clubroom and we thought that it would be great if we could use images that members had taken. So if you have an image that you would like to be considered for printing please e-mail it to on this link.
All entries need to be of a high quality and capable of being printed to between A4&A3 in size so that they will stand out! The closing dates for entries is the 28th March so don't hang around, send us your pics!

Race Officer Training
A date for your diaries...
On Friday 2nd May, from 19:30 in the evening, the bar will be open for all to come along and have a drink.
At the same time, there will be some training for Race Officers and Assistant Race Officers. The exact programme is being designed at present, but the idea is to allow people to understand what their duties will entail, and to allow you to ask questions without the pressures of the day.
Flags, timing, hooters, courses, results etc.
Junior/Youth Sailing - All hands meeting
Thursday 27th March, 2008, 8pm-10pm.
Following another fantastic year for the Junior and Youth sailors at the club in 2007, it is now time to make the decisions which will shape the way that we progress into 2008.
It is important that the direction is established from a balance of those who have been involved for a few years and those who still have several years ahead of them.
So, whether you are just about to start with Oppie sailing at the club or your children are already sailing in the youth classes, please make every effort to attend and share your views.
The meeting isn't about staffing roles, it's about ensuring your young sailors get the opportunities that you want for them.
