Ben Tylecote Appeal

Many, many Burghfield Sailing Club members will know and remember the Tylecotes from their years as active members of the club before they moved to Rutland. Please take a look at the plight of their 13 year old son, Ben and support and share if you can.

Ben Tylecote's Urgent Appeal

Eight Bells...Tony Brailsford

Sadly, we have been informed by former BSC Commodore Chris Hay that Tony Brailsford passed away in the early hours of Wednesday morning, 16th August. He went into the Royal Berkshire Hospital the week before for treatment.

Tony joined Reading SC, sailing Enterprises before moving to Burghfield with his wife Sue. When dinghy sailing was reluctantly given up, he turned his very skilled hands to build model yachts and sailing them very successfully. It is estimated he built more than 100 International One Metre models derived from the Triple Crown design.

Our thoughts are with his wife Sue and their family.

At present, there are no details about the funeral arrangements.

BSC Op Nationals

Great Results for Burghfield at the 2017 Optimist Nationals

Congratulations to all of the Burghfield team at the optimist nationals. Everyone worked really hard in some challenging conditions. Well done to Clara and Joe in their first year as assistant coaches, Rob as racing fleet coach, Jon coaching mini racers and all the parents helping out. Thank you also to Tom for bringing Eric. We had some great sailing from all of the sailors but special mention to Charlie Howard for being second boy in the coached regatta fleet and being selected as most improved in his fleet winning the Jaffa trophy; Joseph Jones was 4th overall in a 70 strong regatta racing fleet winning the first 9 year old trophy. In Junior Main fleet James Barrett sailed brilliantly to finish 27th overall in gold fleet.
