Becoming a Member

At Burghfield Sailing Club we offer excellent year-round water access together with modern facilities, and a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. We have a policy of openness and offer membership to anyone with a love of sailing, windsurfing or paddle boarding regardless of skill or experience. We don't require an interview and if you'd like to have a look at the Club do come to one of our Open Days or email membership@burghfieldsailing.org and we will be available to show you around.

How to join

The process is quite simple and easy:-

Irrespective of payment profile GoCardless is our preferred method of collecting membership fees.

Memberships run for 12 months of commitment April to March.

Spread payments You can pay all upfront or spread your payments April to December.

NOTES to Membership Types


1. FULL MEMBERSHIP

Open to persons aged 18 and over as at 1st April. The Full Member is the person named and accepted on the application for

membership form and the privileges of Full Membership shall be available to the Full Member.

i. These privileges shall be available to his / her spouse or partner;

ii. The facilities of the Club shall be available to their children under the age of 18 years, subject to the provisions of the

Constitution;

iii. There shall be one vote per subscription paid.

iv. All persons named on the Membership aged 16 or over as at 1st April and actively participating in the club are required to

do duties.

2. JUNIOR MEMBERSHIP

Open to persons between the ages of 8 and 15 years as at 1st April

i. A Junior Member must have a parent/guardian on site at all times.

ii. A Junior member shall not have the right to vote at any General Meeting;

3. YOUNG PERSON MEMBERSHIP

Open to persons aged 16 and under 25 years on 1st April of the membership year.

i. All Young persons are required to do duties at the club.

ii. shall be entitled to the privileges of a Full Member but they shall not be available to his/her spouse or

partner.

4. SENIOR PERSON MEMBERSHIP

Open to persons of state retirement age as at the 1st April of the membership year.

i. All senior persons are required to do duties at the club.

ii. Shall be entitled to the privileges of a Full Member and these privileges shall be available to his / her

spouse or partner

5. CREWING MEMBERSHIP

Open to persons sponsored as a crew by a Full Member who shall be entitled to use the facilities of the Club but nevertheless

shall not have:

i. the right to vote at any General Meeting;

ii. the right to serve on any Committee or Sub-Committee;

iii. the right to bring any boat belonging to them within the Club's boat park;

iv. the right to sail any boat belonging to them on the Club's water;

v. the right to helm in any race other than a race specifically designated as a crews' or ladies' race.

6. ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP

Open to persons, at the discretion of the committee, who have an interest in sailing and are prepared to do rostered duties

but do not actively participate in the sport who shall be entitled to use the facilities of the Club but shall not have:

i. the right to vote at any General Meeting;

ii. the right to serve on any Committee or Sub-Committee;

iii. the right to bring or store any boat within the Club's boat park;

iv. the right to sail or crew any boat on the Club's water unless on duty.

7. WINTER MEMBERSHIP

Open to persons aged 18 or over at the discretion of the Committee for those who wish to sail between October to March

inclusive. The Winter member is required to complete a minimum of 1 duty. The Winter Member is the person named and

accepted on the relevant application form and the privileges of Full Membership shall be available to the Winter Member but

nevertheless shall not have:

i. the right to vote at any General Meeting;

ii. the right to serve on any Committee or Sub-Committee;

iii. the privileges shall not be available to his/her spouse or partner;

8. DUTY WAIVER

Waiver on duties but, exclude Wednesday evening and Xmas Race series.

9. JUNIOR BOAT PARKING

Available to the following craft Optimist, Feva and Topper sailing dinghies.
