Youth training is managed by the Youth Committee and currently runs approximately every four to six weeks during the season.
Race training sessions are held on selected Saturdays throughout the year. It is recommended that sailors should regularly participate in Sunday racing and Open meetings to put into practice the skills they have learnt during training sessions. This fleet is made up of a mix of boats both single and double handed but it is fair to say it is dominated by Lasers. Sailors should either use their own boat or hire a club boat.
Open to all youth sailors aged 12 to 18, there is no charge to members of the club. Sailors should be at a level that is considered competent as it is taken for granted that boat handling skills are considered to be established. These sessions are very much focused on those looking to race in a competitive environment and wanting to improve their performance and finishing positions. It is physically and mentally demanding and participants should come prepared to be challenged and stretched, spending a day on the water that will be exhausting but exhilarating and highly enjoyable.
