  BARTS BASH 2024

  Sunday 15th September  Burghfield Sailing Club will be supporting Barts Bash, and holding a two race series comprising of 2 Mass Start Handicap Races. The International Barts Bash Race Results will be taken from the Morning 11am Race. 11 am race will have prizes for  1st Place  1st Youth 1st Junior The overall Burghfield Results will be taken from both Races. • Learn to sail an OPI with Andrew Simpson WaterSports

  Learn to sail in an Optimist dinghy with this course delivered by Andrew Simpson Centre Reading in partnership with Burghfield Sailing Club for new and existing club members. This course covers Stage 1 of the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme and is suitable for children from age 6. The course runs over 6 consecutive Saturday afternoons, 13:30-16:30 from 14 th  September to 19 th October. Book  here  or contact the ASC Reading team for more information.

  Burghfield Bloodbath, Prizegiving and BBQ - 28th August 2024

  For sailors and spectators, mark your calendars for the Burghfield Bloodbath, Sunday and Wednesday Series Prizegiving and a last Summer BBQ. We have had 101 boats out on the start line for this series! What is that was on one night! Sail, have a drink, have some BBQ food, pick up your trophies. It's still all to play for!

  CAFE OPEN ON SATURDAYS, SUNDAYS & WEDNESDAY EVENINGS

  Fantastic news that the Cafe will now be open on Saturdays, Sundays and also Wednesday evenings. This is available to all people using the club and Andrew Simpson Watersports centre. Its great to see the club so busy on the weekends now as the weather is improving.

  SOLO and Comet Open Results

  A total of 33 Solos and 13 comets took to the water on Saturday, for 4 really close races, in the Solo's we saw 11 different boats scoring top 5 results and in the Comets we saw 7 boats. Congratulations to Tom Gillard who won the Solo Open convincingly with 4 race wins in total, and Edwin Pope who won the Comet open scoring 2 race wins. Thanks to the Race committee, organisers

  Wednesday evening racing and social has started

  Fantastic evening at Burghfield for the first Wednesday evening race and social, 30 plus boats enjoyed a fantastic course covering most of the lake with Pippa in the Oppi starting and finishing first, just holding off the Fire Inland Champion David Shafto. The introduction this year of Personal Handicaps taken from last year encouraged close racing throughout the fleet, at one point 8 boats were calling for room at buoy 7, also great to see

• It is with great regret that this weekend's Merlin Rocket ST Open has been postponed owing to adverse weather forecasts

  The Open Meeting organiser has taken the decision to postponed the Merlin Rocket Open Meeting on Saturday due to the adverse weather forecast, we are extremely disappointed, however will be working with the Merlin Rocket Association to re-schedule the event for later in the year. The organiser will also be in-touch with the pre-entries to refund the entry fees.

• RS Aero Open 2024

  Fifteen RS Aeros were greeted by a blustery Burghfield with all the promise of an exciting day's racing that did not disappoint! The fleet divided cleanly for Class racing with RS Aero 7s and RS Aero 5s and it was all on for 4 races, split by a nice lunch break in the club to recuperate! Each race was 2 laps with a downwind slalom covering all the angles and giving two gybes. After

• FIre Inlands Results

  A turnout of 9 boats were treated to Burghfield at its gusty best! The morning racing gave the sailors some testing conditions, massive gusts and rain across the lake caused capsizes and planing reaches, which gave the Balcony fleet some great viewing and obviously in their heads race wins! At lunch the race wins were shared between David Shafto and Douglas Clow, each with a one, two, so the afternoon was all to play
