Commodore's Introduction
Having been a member of Burghfield for 41 Years I am privileged and excited to have been given the role of Commodore for the next two years. Initially I would like to thank all the past and existing members of the Main and Sailing Committee for all the work that has been undertaken and the continued support.
Burghfield Sailing Club, together with our partners the RYA approved Andrew Simpson Watersports Centre, Reading, create a thriving activity centre based in the Thames Valley supporting sailing, paddling, windsurfing & wing surfing activities.
After guiding the club through stability for the last two years, Andy Maw has stepped down and the new committee are excited about driving the club forward and making some investments.
Our main priorities are:
- 1)Retain & Encourage New Members by having continual improvement plans for club infrastructure giving Members a club & environment they are proud of and want to spend time at.
- 2)Encourage more use of the club through Racing, Youth, Paddling and Social Sailing & Social Events where members have the opportunity to compete, grow and improve and socialise.
We have exceptional sailing, windsurfing and paddling facilities for competitive and recreational sailors alike, on our spectacular 200 acre lake.
But please remember although we have a healthy membership of enthusiasts who are passionate about the club, we are a members' club, and as such activities are run by the membership, creating an active, vibrant and friendly community if you want to run an event, social or have an idea let us know.
