Oppie Improver Group (Burghfield Sailing Club members) - Stage 2 Week 1
Activity overview
This course is delivered over 6 weekend sessions covering Stage 2 of the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme using Burghfield Sailing Club Optimist dinghies and is run by Andrew Simpson Centres. Stage 2 focuses on developing core sailing skills, including tacking, gybing, steering, and sailing on all points of sail. Sailors will continue to practice essential safety techniques, such as capsize recovery and responding to minor problems, while gaining more responsibility for rigging and handling the boat.
All skills are taught in a supportive, fun, and safe environment, giving participants the confidence to progress to more advanced stages.
Please note, the date you book is the first in the 6 week series, the remaining 5 sessions will be automatically booked for the following 5 weeks on the same day of the week and time. It may be possible to complete the syllabus if some sessions are missed, please speak to our team if you have any questions. If these dates are not suitable and we have enough participants coming forward for alternative dates, then it may be possible to change the course dates.
The person attending the course must be a member of Burghfield Sailing Club. Please contact Andrew Simpson Centres on 01189 303467 to book.
