What is Oppy Club?

Burghfield Sailing Club Oppy Club is a fun session for junior members aged 6 upwards, who have undertaken RYA Start Sailing Stage One qualification, or who have equivalent experience.

Oppy Club gives young sailors an opportunity to practise their skills and boost their confidence in a friendly, informal and supportive environment. Sessions are short with an emphasis on enjoyment - we play a lot of games! - while tailored to sailors needs.

It is run by parent volunteers, and we encourage everyone to get involved, which means its a great way to meet other families, make some friends and to have fun!

Sessions typically take place on Sunday mornings between Easter and October half term, using the clubs fleet of Optimist dinghies. As they gain more experience, some children might like to use their own boat but dont worry, we can offer some friendly advice once you get to that stage and its by no means a requirement.

There is no charge for Oppy Club. However, the Club is volunteer run, so we do ask all parents to help more on this below.
